Gill Dandy

History and experience

Gill is a communications professional with 25 years consultancy and in-house experience in the public relations industry. She was a Board Director with Shandwick Communications working with consumer, corporate, business-to-business and charity clients before moving in-house and working in the not-for-profit sector.

Her communications experience in this sector includes working as Director of Development and PR in Higher Education, Communications Director of a membership organisation and Interim Director of Communications for a disability charity. She has recently stepped down from the Board of Shared Interest, a fair-trade finance organisation, after 8 years as a Non Executive Director. Gill is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (FCIPR), a Fellow of the Royal Society for the encouragement of the Arts, a Trustee of a benevolent association and chairs CIPR Fifth Estate, the PR network for the voluntary sector.

Clients

Gill has worked with Centre clients from a broad range of sectors including charities, education, housing associations, local authorities, health, and professional practice.

Training style

Gill loves to bring out the best in her delegates, helping them to discover and develop their skills and knowledge. She has a very encouraging, facilitative and supportive training style and uses a mix of workshop training practices to help delegates enjoy the learning experience at the same time as seeing how it can be implemented in practical ways in their work.

Courses

Gill is a regular trainer on the Centre's Open Programme courses. She specialises in communications, personal development and administration courses including Presentations skills, Communication in the workplace, Time management for managers and The Executive PA. She is the lead trainer on a number of PR and marketing courses such as Marketing in the not-for-profit sector, PR strategies that work and Social Media strategies.

As well as training on the Centre's Open Programme courses Gill is also runs bespoke in-company training and one-to-one coaching sessions. Most recently Gill has run bespoke Reputation management and PR strategy development courses for two government departments, a series of customer care courses for Islington & Shoreditch Housing Association and delivered a range of administration courses to Monsoon, King's College London and Heritage Lottery Fund.
