Simon Communities of Ireland
The Centre has helped Simon to develop both a communication strategy and a fundraising strategy.
- Communication strategy: Simon is committed to ending homelessness and recognised that this demands both greater awareness amongst politicians and the public, and winning support for change. They also needed to develop and sustain their funding and their volunteer base. In public opinion polls, Simon enjoys an enviable 30% unprompted recognition in Ireland. But the organisation is determined to improve this further. To achieve all these goals Simon needed a communication strategy. The Centre worked with a steering group drawn from the regional and local Simon Communities, undertaking research and analysing strengths and weaknesses. We helped them to develop a strategy which contained objectives and actions to position the organisation, develop landmark events, improve their public affairs work and put in place clear internal communication procedures to support their external communication.
- Fundraising strategy: Simon is a complex organisation which provides services for homeless people, campaigns, educates and informs. To grow and sustain its work it needs to increase its funding. Again working with a high level steering group drawn from across the organisation, the Centre helped Simon to develop a strategy that clarified funding streams and procedures and contained aims and objectives around improving direct mail, big gift fundraising, legacies and corporate sponsorship.
