Basic writing skills: power workshop
Course summary
Do you put off writing till a deadline looms? Do you try and delegate your writing tasks ? Are you unsure about the rules of grammar and punctuation? Are you self-conscious about your spelling?
If you would like to gain confidence in writing at work, but can’t spare a day out of the office, this short surgery session is for you. Come and share your problems in a small, supportive group, and get one-to-one professional guidance on how to write better. You will also take away a handbook with notes on grammar, punctuation and spelling, and a list of useful online resources and publications to help you develop your skills.
Course outline
We will focus on the basics of writing:- using grammar to write clear, concise sentences
- being consistent - making sense
- punctuation explained - commas, apostrophes and the rest
- spelling - strategies for improvement
- a year of free support
There will also be time for help with your individual writing problems.
Who is this course for?
The course, which takes place in Central London, is suitable for anyone who wants a crash refresher course in basic grammar, punctuation and spelling. The Centre works with people from all sectors including the public sector, voluntary sector, corporate sector and private sector.

The course will improve your basic skills and boost your confidence. It will give you some tools for writing clear, correct English in letters and emails.
