Course summary
A dignity at work policy, with clear procedures, is a vital part of any modern, diverse workplace. Bullying and harassment are destructive to the recipient, the perpetrator and the organisation, and can be challenging for managers to deal with. This training course explains the legal framework, and will help you look at policy options, and develop tools to tackle inappropriate behaviour.
Course outline
This one day training course looks at bullying, sexual, racial and age harassment, homophobia and religious harassment. Over the day, you will cover:
- the role of a dignity at work policy in developing a motivated and healthy workforce
- creating a positive work culture
- definitions of harassment and bullying
- the legal framework
- dignity at work policies
- recognising bullying and harassment
- tackling inappropriate behaviour
- performance management distinguished from bullying
- managing difficult people in the longer term
- investigating an allegation of bullying or harassment
- informal and formal routes to resolve complaints
The course combines training sessions with practical exercises. It is highly participative, and includes case studies, checklists, creative discussion, and workshops with video feedback.
Who is this course for?
The course is for managers, HR professionals, staff counsellors, trade union representatives and anyone else charged with establishing or implementing a dignity at work policy or who wants to understand more about the process for developing and maintaining a positive, creative and healthy working environment. The Centre works with people from all sectors including the public sector, voluntary sector, corporate sector and private sector.
