Course summary
A diverse workforce brings both challenges and benefits. Manage the challenges well and the benefits will be noticed in both individual and team performance. This course is about equipping yourself to lead a diversity competent team or department through appropriate awareness raising, information sign posting, and competency development.
Course outline
This course takes you on a journey from ‘awareness raising' to self assessment of ‘competency', through to practical application of principles and actions within your remit of work.
You will cover:
- developing a better understanding of diversity, equality, and power issues
- developing personal diversity competence
- assessing, improving and developing strategies, practices and behaviours as part of building diversity competence within your remit
Who is this course for?
This course is for heads of departments and managers at all levels with operational responsibilities. The Centre works with people from all sectors including the public sector, voluntary sector, corporate sector and private sector.
What will this course help me do: learning outcomes?
Managers will leave better equipped to:
• lead teams to achieve better practice and greater innovation in achieving client outcomes
• develop or improve individual and team performance
• ensure teams sustain or improve Ofsted and QAF inspection ratings in light of their new emphasis on diversity
