This minute taking course, designed specifically for public sector organisations, takes a practical hands on approach to minutes with lots of exercies so that you can practise new skills. Our trainers are very familiar with the requirements of minute taking in a range of public service settings - Government, local authorities, health service, housing and education - and can help you make sense of the minutes you have to take in your own workplace.
Course outline
On our one day minute taking course, which takes place in Central London, we will cover:
- the purpose, function and legal context of minutes
- some tips on grammar for minutes
- what to put in and what to leave out
- how to lay out your minutes for formal and informal meetings
- preparing to take minutes
- working with the chair of the meeting
- listening and notetaking skills
- editing and finishing your minutes
- minutes and the Freedom of Information Act
- a year of free support
Who is this course for?
This one day minute taking course is useful to anyone working in the Public Sector who has to take minutes as part of their work. Whether you are asked to minute the occasional team meeting or are responsible for minuting formal Board meetings, this course will have something for you. If you learn better with lots of practice, you might find the two day course helpful.
