Productive and positive: managing stress successfully
Course summary
In these busy times, we all need to stay focussed, in a positive frame of mind and highly productive to maintain an ‘edge’ over our competitors. Good health and wellbeing can be the key to achieving this, but often in trying hard to stay ahead we get the balance slightly wrong with devastating effects. This one-day course allows you to identify the causes of stress in your own life and to understand how pressure can feel so different – even motivating! You will then explore practical ways of achieving balance and maintaining high levels of productivity by focussing on five key areas that can improve your wellbeing and energy levels, your thought patterns for a more successful future and improving your life balance.
Course outline
This course provides an interesting, practical and helpful introduction to the subject of stress, pressure and achieving wellbeing. During the day you will cover:- the difference between stress and pressure
- how to identify the cause of stress at work and in your personal life and how this can affect your emotions, behaviour and physical wellbeing
- why stress lowers productivity, causes fatigue and contributes to many short-term and long-term illnesses and medical disorders
- how what we eat and drink to keep us going can do exactly the opposite!
- how working on your wellbeing and relaxation and creating a more balanced lifestyle can build resilience and help to maintain high levels of productivity in pressured times
You will also learn some very practical skills including:
- how to assess your own level of stress, use a diary to record your individual response to stress and how to use this to manage your life
- simple relaxation techniques that really work but which are so simple and easy to do that you can use them at your desk
- how to follow five simple rules that will promote wellbeing, help you build resilience in your life, and give you greater energy throughout the day
- how to improve your life balance, focussing on the things that are most important to you and how to stop yourself feeling pulled in all directions
- how the way we think and approach our problems can contribute to how we feel, motivated or stressed!
