Certificate in Leadership and Management
The Certificate of Higher Education in Leadership and Management is offered by Royal Holloway, University of London in partnership with the Centre. It offers a sound grounding for a career in management.
Who is it for?
This course is suitable for anyone who is new to management, or anyone who has been managing for some time, and would like to acknowledge and consolidate their experience and gain a qualification.
Individuals and staff groups: the programme is open to individuals through our open training programme, enabling you to attend at times to suit your diary. We can also run it in-house for organisations who want to train a cohort of managers.

What is the programme content?
The programme is practical and skills oriented, underpinned by a strong theoretical base.
It covers:
- An overview of management - tailored to your specific experience level (either Moving up in management or Moving from manager to leader)
- Strategic planning and thinking
- Project management
- People and team management
- Influencing skills, including personal impact skills
- Finance for managers in the non-profit sector
- Campus workshop at Royal Holloway, University of London
- Introduction to leadership
- Thinking tools and business planning
You will also undertake an Organisational Improvement Project (OIP) - an 8000 word written project, tackling an aspect of your organisation, involving research, project management, writing and presentation skills.
How long does it take?
Taught over a minimum study period of 1 year, maximum 2 years, the Certificate in Leadership and Management involves 1200 notional hours of study.
