Equality Framework and Equality Mark

If you are facing a challenging task in introducing equality and diversity
into your organisation, you might wish to consider using the Equality Framework
developed by the Centre for Local Policy Studies. It provides the basis for an
organic, deep rooted, long term management approach - tailored to support
equality schemes and the achievement of the Public Sector Duties. It is a
rigorous, but easily understood guide - taking you through a number of steps,
asking questions, providing a framework for involvement and buy in.

The Framework is founded on equality improvement principles and involves the
promotion of an equality and diversity vision, applying equality and diversity
principles to the achievement of high quality services, continuous improvement,
and responding to the needs of stakeholders. Importantly, the Framework
provides equality managers with key lines of assessment for corporate
governance, equality outcomes and the management of equality.

An integrated equality scheme, backed up by the Equality Framework is the
best hope yet of achieving lasting change to benefit some of the most vulnerable
and under-represented people in society. The Framework has been used by the
National Assembly for Wales and the Audit Commission.

The Centre is the lead partner of the Centre for Local Policy Studies in
using the Framework. If you work in a complex organisation that needs to
radically overhaul the way it works and build a diverse and inclusive
organisation in the longer term - give us a call to talk about the Equality
Framework. Organisations that use the Framework are also eligible to apply for
the Equality Mark.
