Fiona Lewis

History and experience

Fiona uses her extensive experience in marketing, PR and communications to support individuals, non-profits and businesses to understand their ambitions and engage effectively with their audiences. She is passionate about helping people and organisations to fulfil their potential and raise their profile for greater success.

Fiona’s work spans a variety of sectors and communication disciplines and has included consultancy, strategy development and bespoke training for non-profit organisations including The Challenge UK, The Unitarian Church, the Alzheimer’s Society and Blind Veterans UK. She has worked for a local authority and for businesses including Virgin Books as well as working closely with corporates such as British Land, KPMG, Pitney Bowes, Starbucks, McDonald’s and Pearson.

Fiona’s career demonstrates a successful record of senior level communications in the not-for-profit sector. She is Marketing and Communications Lead for the Maria Montessori Institute where she is heading up a programme of transformation in the organisation’s approach to marketing. She was Head of Communications at the National Literacy Trust for six years where she oversaw a rebrand, led a commission on boys’ reading, worked on a new business model and delivered high-profile media campaigns. Fiona also managed Public Relations at volunteering charity TimeBank where she ran a national trustee recruitment drive and a market research programme.

Fiona has a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from the Institute of Education and a BA (Hons) in English Language and Literature from University College London.

Training style

Fiona uses interactive activities to engage and reinforce learning while underpinning these with theory. Her strong background in communications enables her to make more abstract concepts tangible and she is energetic and approachable, quickly putting trainees at ease but ensuring every session is kept at a good pace. Fiona also uses understanding gained through her post graduate qualification in education to structure her sessions and adopt a variety of learning approaches.

Fiona also runs bespoke in-house training and one-to-one coaching sessions. Fiona offers coaching in building your personal profile, confidence and effective communication. As a coach she draws on her management experience, as well as time spent volunteering as a mentor for colleagues in the charity sector.
