History and experience
At the heart of Hilary’s work lies the desire to evolve fresh perspectives for people and organisations, prioritising leadership development, strategic management and leading organisational change.
Her work spans a variety of management and leadership disciplines and has included cultural strategy development for a London Borough; facilitating Board development; accelerating diversity policy and approaches; designing professional development programmes for the film and museums sectors; as well as commissioned research mapping cultural leadership across the UK and Australia.
Hilary’s career demonstrates a successful record of senior level management and leadership in the arts and cultural industries including Director, London (Arts) at Arts Council England; and Director, Culture and Education at London 2012, London's successful Olympic bid team.
Prior to working as an independent consultant, Hilary was the Director of the Cultural Leadership Programme, a £22m government investment in excellence in leadership within the UK cultural and creative industries.
A Visiting Professor at the Kufstein University of Applied Sciences (Austria), Hilary holds an MBA from the University of Westminster; is a qualified coach (CIPD); and a qualified Organisation Development Consultant (NTL Institute of Applied Sciences, UK).

Hilary’s experience spans a range of sectors including arts, culture, education, local authorities, charity and third sector, with a growing range of private and health sector opportunities.
Hilary is an effective communicator whose background and experience demonstrate her ability to add value to a diverse range of individuals and organisations. Her interactive approach combines theory and practice with insight and inspiration to create a positive learning environment that encourages curiosity and full engagement for personal and professional development.
Hilary teaches a range of management and leadership courses including, including Moving from manager to leader, Change management and Moving up in management. Hilary will now be delivering one of our new management training courses: Leading with authenticity.
Hilary offers coaching in Leadership skills, career development, performance management & improvement, personal and professional development. A flexible range of coaching tools are used according to need drawing upon a dynamic interpersonal model that facilitates the achievement of professional goals underpinned by strong personal development. The process is reflective and iterative, securing engagement and commitment alongside agreed objectives to shape the coaching relationship and longer term aspirations.
As well as five years of coaching experience, Hilary has an Advanced Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring (CIPD) and Certificate in Organisation Development (NTL Institute UK).
