How to choose the right communication course
Communication is an incredibly broad subject, and it’s important to make sure that you’ve picked the right training to suit the needs of you and your organisation. There are loads of options to choose from, but we know that it can be overwhelming so here’s a simple guide to help you choose the right course for you.
What do you want to achieve?
Sometimes it’s good to start at the end and work backwards. What do you want to achieve? Maybe you want to be confident enough to give that important presentation, perhaps your PR strategy needs improving, or you may be struggling to communicate with your colleagues and want that to change. Setting goals makes picking a course much easier!
What’s the root of the problem?
Now think about what factors are stopping those goals from being achieved. Are you scared of failure and so don’t want to present? Your PR strategy may not be great because it’s outdated and hasn’t been looked at in five years. Your poor communication may be because of underdeveloped listening skills. Understanding the root of the problem will flag up key areas that need improvement.
Does your role require specialist advice?
Once you’ve established the root of the problem, think about your role in the workplace. Managers may need some special attention, those of you in a sales role will also need some specific advice. We have a range of courses designed to suit specific roles, including managers, receptionists, sales and more.
Read through the course outlines
Each of our courses have detailed course outlines that will tell you exactly what you’ll be learning during your time at the Centre. We recommend that you take the time to read through these outlines, and also take a look at our advice on who the course is best suited to. Within these guidelines you’ll be able to spot whether we’re covering the areas that you need help with.
