Terms and conditions
Booking a training course
When you book a training course you are also booking a particular date and time on which to take that course. You will receive an acknowledgement of your web booking automatically by email, and then a subsequent email confirmation once your booking has been accepted.
We reserve the right to alter the course content and/or trainer for reasons beyond our (the Centre’s) control.
Charity discounts
The Centre has three price bands:
- The small charity price applies to registered charities with an annual turnover of less than £3 million.
- The not-for-profit price applies to all other non-profit organisations including housing associations and public sector.
- If you do not fall into either of these categories then you will pay the standard price for your course.
Payment in advance
Please ensure that your payment for the course arrives before the day of the training course.
The delegate and organisation placing the booking shall be jointly and severally liable for the course payment of the course fee.
If you are self-funding your training (ie the course is not being paid for by your employer) then your booking cannot be confirmed until full payment is received. Please ensure that you book well in advance, and that payment is made at least 7 days ahead of the course date. This also applies to any non-UK bookings.
The Centre for Strategy and Communication is very keen to keep prices as low as possible for all our customers. In order to do this, it is important that we collect fees for training courses promptly. Unfortunately, chasing unpaid bills is costly. In order to avoid having to pass on these costs to you, we ask for payment in advance.
We reserve the right to claim interest pursuant to the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 on overdue fees.
Your invoice
We try to make sure that we send the invoice for the course to the right person or department. If you have received the invoice and are not the right person, please pass it on to the appropriate department so that they can arrange payment for your course in plenty of time.
Your organisation can pay for your course by cheque, credit/debit card or by BACS payment. For more information on this telephone the Centre on 020 7490 3030.
What if I want to transfer, postpone or have to cancel?
Courses for individuals
All cancellations and transfers should be made in writing via email to reception@the-centre.co.uk, rather than a phone call.
Transferring to a different date or course
If you transfer more than two weeks but less than four weeks before the start date, a transfer charge of £50 plus VAT will be payable for each booking transfer.
If you transfer less than two weeks before the course start date, the full course fee will be due.
You may only transfer once per booking. Please note that we are unable to transfer your booking until we have received the transfer fee. We also require the course fee before the original course date. If you cancel after transferring, the appropriate fee is due.
Cancelling your course
For cancellations four weeks or more before your training date, we will refund the full fee.
For cancellations more than fourteen days, but less than four weeks before your training date, we will refund half the fee.
For cancellations less than fourteen days before your training date, the full fee will be due.
We charge a cancellation fee because our training courses are often full, meaning interested persons have to be asked to book at a later date. With late cancellations these empty places cannot then be filled.
Group training courses at your venue
All cancellations should be made in writing, by the person who has booked the course, to grouptraining@the-centre.co.uk.
Postponing a course
If you give us more than two weeks’ notice, we will try to negotiate an alternative date within three month’s of the original one, with a postponement fee of £100 + VAT. If we cannot find a new date, we will charge half the course fee.
If you give us less than four weeks’ , but more than two weeks' notice, we will charge you half the course fee.
If you give us less than two weeks' notice, we will charge you the full fee, unless agreed otherwise with the trainer.
We allow only one postponement per course.
Cancelling a course
If you give us more than one month’s notice, we will not charge you, and we will refund any fees you have already paid. The only exceptions are non-refundable expenses, including preparation for bespoke training which will have already been done.
If you give us less than one month’s notice, we will charge you half the course fee.
If you give us less than two week’s notice, we will charge you the full fee, unless agreed otherwise with the trainer.
Please note that non-payment and/or non-attendance do not constitute a cancellation.
What if the course is cancelled by the Centre?
We reserve the right to cancel any course at any time; we are not liable for this but will seek to provide you with the next, most suitable date. If this is not possible then we will issue a credit note or a full refund. Happily this is something that rarely occurs.
