Remote Management toolkit

Covid-19 has changed the way we work beyond all recognition. You probably knew that as a manager you have to be prepared for anything, but were you really prepared for this? Suddenly you’re managing a team of isolated staff, scattered across multiple locations and at a time of extreme pressure and worry. There are so many challenges – from communicating in the best way and keeping the team motivated to managing performance and supporting staff wellbeing. We’ve put together this interactive and informative webinar to help get your remote management off to a flying start. This webinar will include a dedicated Q+A session and will support you in building a personal action plan for putting your learning into practice.

  • Webinar outline

During this webinar, we will cover the following topics:

    • Knowing how to manage differently: Even if you’re the greatest manager in the world, managing people remotely requires a whole new set of skills and mindsets. We’ll help you to identify the key skills you should be developing and remind you of the strengths you already have as a manager which you can use to your advantage.
    • Successful communication: If there’s one thing people all say they want from their managers, it’s good communication. But it’s not easy to know how much to communicate, how often, and through which medium whilst your team are in one place, let alone working remotely. We’ll consider useful approaches and tools for successful communication during this period of isolation.
    • Organising and motivating your team: You probably never thought that you would one day have to organise a team working from their kitchens, living rooms and juggling their work with full-time childcare, against the backdrop of a worrying national crisis. We’ll show you how organisation can be the key to success and consider steps you can take to keep your team motivated through this challenging time.
    • Managing performance: How can you manage my team’s performance if you can’t meet them and check all their work? How can you even know if your staff are working? Is it reasonable to expect the same performance at such a worrying time? Managing performance in remote teams needs a very different mindset and tools to those you might use in your normal workplace. We’ll give you ideas for success.
    • Promoting staff wellbeing: Remote working can be isolating and challenging at the best of times, but during the Covid-19 crisis, stress and worry are bound to take their toll. But how can you tell if somebody you manage is struggling and what can you do to support them when you can’t meet in person? We’ll explore the main staff wellbeing issues to be aware of during the crisis, how to detect warning signs and the practical steps you can take to offer support.
    • Personal action planning: The steps to take to put your learning into practice and make the immediate changes you need to make a success of remote management.
