Monitoring, evaluation and impact assessment: making a difference

Course summary

"Not everything that counts can be counted. And not everything that can be counted, counts." Albert Einstein

The pressures for 'change', 'getting results' or 'having an impact' are ever-present in today's workplace. Whether these arise from new initiatives or plans, change programmes or projects it has become increasingly important to demonstrate success or adapt to changing circumstances. But, as the quote suggests, these can sometimes be elusive. Monitoring progress and evaluation of results can help but what do you measure and when? How do you balance 'doing the right thing' with 'doing it right'?

"It is better to be roughly right than precisely wrong." John Maynard Keynes

This one-day introductory course will clarify your thinking, enable you to build monitoring and evaluation systems into your plans from the outset and help you demonstrate that you are making a difference.
