Course summary

Giving a presentation can be a scary prospect - but this course will give you the confidence and presentation skills to become an effective speaker. You may even get to enjoy it!

The training is practical and fun, with lots of tips for calming your nerves, developing your material and increasing your impact. We keep the group size small and you will get lots of personal attention, including video and feedback.

Course outline


The course looks at presentation skills from every angle, from preparation and rehearsal to the development of a presentation style. Over the day you will cover:

  • knowing what you want to achieve and finding the right way of doing it
  • developing and communicating clear messages
  • understanding how best to inform and motivate your audience
  • gathering your material
    • keeping it simple and to the point
    • what to put in and what to leave out
  • structuring your presentation
  • tips to make your presentation lively and effective
  • handling nerves
  • developing your confidence
  • the power of positive thinking
  • developing an upbeat personal presence
    • body language
    • dressing for success
    • voice projection

We will diagnose your strengths and weaknesses and help you to develop a presentation style that plays to your strengths and is right for you.

Who is this course for?

This course will help you develop presentation skills and confidence in a safe, learning setting. You may be new to giving presentations, or you may be someone who currently gives presentations but has had no formal training. This is the training for you! We work with people from all sectors and the Centre specialises in supporting organisations from the public sector and the voluntary sector.



What will this course help me do: learning outcomes?

This course will help you present with confidence in different settings - from conferences to committee meetings, from fundraising pitches to stakeholder gatherings. It will help you understand how audiences can be motivated and persuaded, and will enable you to develop a presentation that achieves your aims.

A ‘small charity’ discount applies to registered charities with an annual turnover of less than £3 million.
